Description
MUST A8 toluene-free contact adhesive is an adhesive which has similar properties to the traditional Contact Adhesive.
The big difference is that this new product does not contain any toluene, which is substance responsible for the strong smell of traditional contact adhesives. The product is manufactured using polychloroprene rubber and synthetic resins and may be used for gluing materials of the same, or different, kinds together.
Directions for Use
Surface: The surfaces to be bonded must be dry and free from grease and dust. The surfaces to be bonded must fit closely together.
Tools: Strong brush or spreader for coating large surfaces.
Application temperature: Do not use at temperatures below +12°C. At low temperatures care must be taken that the temperature of the adhesive and of the surfaces to be bonded is higher than the ambient temperature. Cold materials have a strong tendency to attract the moisture present in the surrounding air. Moisture on the adhesive film may have a disastrous effect on the bond and will lead to unsatisfactory results.
Assembly:
1. Apply an even film of adhesive to both materials. Porous materials must be coated twice, the second time after the first layer is dry.
2. When the coat of adhesive is just tacky and does not longer transfer to your finger upon touching, the surfaces can be brought together.
3. Take care to position the materials accurately, because once the joint is made, they cannot be adjusted by sliding.
4. Next firmly tap the surfaces with a rubber hammer or roll with a pressure roll.
5. A press may be used as well then be sufficiently high and evenly applied to the entire surface.
6. To obtain optimum results, it is essential to tap or roll firmly over the entire surface in all cases.
Notice:
Contact Adhesive will not bond polyolefins such as polyethylene and polypropylene. Contact Adhesive forms a bond as soon as the two surfaces touch. It is therefore essential to avoid contact before the parts are in alignment, such as by insertion of pins along one edge of one surface, against which the other surface can be located. The initial bond strength allows immediate handling of the assembly but maximum bond strength is reached after 24 to 48 hours at normal temperatures.
Store product at 60-80°F (16-27°C) for maximum storage life. Higher temperatures can reduce normal storage life. Lower temperatures can cause increased viscosity of a temporary nature. In the original, unopened container this product has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture.
